At Fight To Win (FTW), we strive to give excellent instruction to each student. Through a systematic method of learning and drilling techniques, each student is given the freedom to grow at their own pace. Whether you are a recreational student who just wants to learn Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ) and get in shape or a competitive athlete looking for a greater challenge, FTW is the best decision you can make.
Private lessons are an excellent way to quickly improve your overall game. Each person learns at a different pace, so nothing is more effective than one-on-one attention from the instructor on the particular areas of your game that require improvement. Please see your instructor for available times and pricing.
The fundamentals class is an introduction to BJJ with the gi (the traditional uniform). Here we focus on basics of movement, balance, and self-defense. The class will consist of stretching, basic ground techniques, and drilling movements. There is no live sparring in this class; instead, we practice competitive sparring drills that develop a foundation in the sport. The class will cover everything that is needed to comfortably transition into the advanced program.
This is where the art truly begins to take shape. In this class, we focus on improving fundamentals and transitioning, as well as building a personal style for each student. Time will be spent learning the intricacies of ground fighting techniques, followed by live sparring. All students are currently invited to stay on the mat for this program. Just be aware that it is a slightly faster paced focusing primarily on the more advanced students.
The Judo program is to help students understand the essence off-balancing and take downs with the gi. Here we work on traditional Judo with an emphasis on transitions to the ground. This class has a strong focus on competitive Judo and Jiu Jitsu but is highly recommended for all students at any level.
This is where it all started, and this is what truly sets us apart from every other school in the area. Gracie Self-Defense classes are centered on the battle tested techniques developed by Grand Master Helio Gracie. They are designed to put jiu jitsu into more “real life” situations, including strikes, take downs, clench work and ground techniques. Here we will focus on the leverage and balance needed for a smaller person to fend off a much larger attacker. We currently offer Gracie Self Defense on Wednesday evening from 6:30pm-7pm, and it is a part of our daily training before every class. The program will be expanded as needed and Gracie Self Defense seminars will be offered on a regular basis.
The submission wrestling class uses many of the same techniques as Gracie Jiu Jitsu, but without the gi (Uniform). Here we will focus more on conditioning, speed, and athleticism geared towards competition. Many of the areas Pro MMA fighters frequent this class. This is also where you will see more of the “taboo” holds and submissions, such as the neck cranks and leg locks, etc. Even if you are not interested in competing, this is a great way to get in shape fast and maintain an optimum fitness level.
This location is primarily a school for grappling arts. Keep in mind that Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a key component for MMA, and is a good place to start for those interested in fighting. All MMA world champions started somewhere, and for many of them learning grappling first gave them the keys to success. We do have several Pro and Amateur Fighters that train at FTW, so there are opportunities for those who want to fight in the future.
